E3 2013 was full of surprises, one of them was Ubisoft’s new game ‘The Division’. I love urban and architectural settings and wanted to try and create a scene that evoked a similar mood. I chose a real life setting as my jumping off point and then applied the backstory of the game to make it match the source.

To achieve the level of detail necessary for this project a lot of smaller detail was actually modeled instead of baked. This allowed me to use fewer custom maps and add variation by vert painting. Most snow effects are done procedurally in engine by layering snow, based on a World-Up vector and adding further variation by using WorldPosition offset.
